Italian GI retail prices moved in opposite directions across categories in Q3 2026. Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP saw the sharpest decline, falling 19.1% from €44.33 to €35.85/kg. Wine was the strongest category, rising an average of 2.8%, led by Chianti DOCG (+7.1%) and Barolo DOCG (+4.8%), both in sustained upward movements across the quarter. Cheese prices were broadly flat, averaging +0.3%.
Parmigiano Reggiano DOP (whole piece) softened 2.1% from €29.96 to €29.34/kg. Prosecco DOC held at €10.07/L throughout all 18 weeks — the most stable product in the index. All prices are median retail across seven Italian supermarket chains: Interspar, Spazio Conad, Famila, Lidl Italia, MD, Coop and PAM Panorama.
